Questions,answered

UF or RO, buying or renting, installation and service: straight answers to the questions we hear most.

Choosing UF or RO

3 questions

UF (ultrafiltration) passes water through a fine membrane that removes particles, sediment and microorganisms while keeping naturally occurring minerals, which makes it ideal for treated city water. RO (reverse osmosis) uses a much finer membrane that also reduces dissolved salts and other dissolved solids (TDS), so it suits well water and water with higher TDS. You never have to work this out alone: we recommend the right one for your water.

For treated city water, a UF system such as PureFlow UF is usually the right choice. If your supply has high dissolved solids we may recommend RO instead. Use Find My Solution or ask us to check your water.

Well water often carries higher dissolved solids, so we generally recommend RO, such as PureFlow RO. The final recommendation depends on your water condition, which our team can assess.

Buying a purifier

2 questions

Yes. Every LUSAKO water purifier is available to buy outright, and for homes buying is usually the best long-term value. You own the system, it is covered by warranty, and LUSAKO after-sales service and maintenance plans are available.

Every purchased LUSAKO system comes with a product warranty, shown on each product page, plus access to LUSAKO after-sales service and Annual Maintenance Contracts.

Rental

6 questions

Your rental covers the LUSAKO purification system, professional installation, scheduled preventive maintenance, filter replacement and technical support, according to your rental agreement. The exact inclusions are set out in your agreement before you sign.

It is a one-time payment per rented unit, payable only in the first month together with the first month’s rental. From the second month onwards, you pay only the monthly rental. Your rental quote confirms the amount.

No. Customers in the Western Province pay the monthly rental only. There is no Regional Hydration Service charge.

Outside the Western Province, a Regional Hydration Service charge covers the additional technical service, preventive maintenance and regional support needed to look after your system. It is always shown as a separate line item, never hidden inside the rental.

You can renew your rental, and upgrades are available at renewal, subject to your plan. Termination and relocation terms are set out in your rental agreement.

Yes. Companies can rent as many units as they need. For multiple units or sites we prepare a Corporate Hydration proposal, so you don’t have to pick machines one by one.

Installation & service

3 questions

Once you have chosen your system, a trained LUSAKO technician connects it to your existing water supply and checks that everything works as it should. Rentals start with a site assessment so the right machine goes in the right place.

Raise a service request online, by phone or on WhatsApp, or call the emergency breakdown hotline. Rental systems are maintained by LUSAKO throughout the rental period. Purchased systems are supported by their warranty and by an Annual Maintenance Contract or on-call service.

Yes. Corporate Hydration Solutions cover single offices and multi-location organisations, with installation and service planning, preventive maintenance and centralised account management.

AMC & service plans

10 questions

Essential Maintenance is LKR 5,988 a year (LKR 499 a month equivalent), Complete Annual Care is LKR 8,388 a year (LKR 699 a month equivalent), Maximum Protection is LKR 11,988 a year (LKR 999 a month equivalent). Taxes, where applicable, are additional, and payment arrangements are confirmed when you enrol.

Every plan includes breakdown support, an annual system health check, your service history and tank chlorination and sanitation once a year. Preventive maintenance depends on the plan: 1 visit a year with Essential Maintenance, 3 visits a year with Complete Annual Care, 3 visits a year with Maximum Protection.

Essential Maintenance suits customers who want one planned visit and annual sanitation. Complete Annual Care is our recommended balance of regular servicing and cost. Maximum Protection has the same scheduled visits as Complete, with larger replacement discounts. Maximum Protection costs LKR 3,600 more a year than Complete Annual Care. Its extra discounts make up the difference when 15% of your eligible annual filter spending plus 10% of your eligible annual spare-parts spending comes to more than LKR 3,600, at standard prices.

No. Filters, membranes and spare parts are charged separately. Complete Annual Care gives 10% off eligible filters and 10% off eligible spare parts; Maximum Protection gives 25% off eligible filters and 20% off eligible spare parts. Discounts apply to eligible replacements during the active term, and we confirm compatibility and the current price before replacing anything.

Bought separately, its scheduled services cost LKR 9,500: 3 preventive maintenance visits at LKR 2,000 each and a tank chlorination and sanitation service at LKR 3,500. The annual fee is LKR 8,388, so you save LKR 1,112 (about 11.7%) when you use all the scheduled services, before breakdown support, priority service and the replacement discounts.

An inspection / call-out fee is paid before the visit. After the inspection we send a repair quotation for your approval. If you accept the repair within 90 days of the visit, the fee is deducted from the repair invoice; if you don’t go ahead, the fee remains payable for the visit and inspection.

Choose a plan and send us your purifier model, installation address and contact details, here on the website or through your LUSAKO representative. We confirm eligibility, any charges and the activation date before arranging your service schedule. A preliminary inspection may be needed, and existing faults may need correcting before cover begins.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It doesn’t schedule your preventive maintenance and tank sanitation or reduce what you pay for filters, which is what an AMC does. Many customers start one when they buy, so maintenance is in place from day one.

Rented systems don’t need one. LUSAKO maintains rented equipment throughout the rental period, according to your rental agreement.

The contract is non-transferable unless LUSAKO approves. Unused preventive visits can’t normally be exchanged for cash or moved to other services, and discounts can’t be redeemed for cash or deducted from the AMC fee. LUSAKO may revise prices, benefits and terms for future renewals, with appropriate notice.
